Looks like the guys at Minifinity are having a few problems:

On 4th March 2008, around 6pm GMT, something went badly wrong on the server that runs Minifinity.com. We can talk about what exactly went wrong once we’ve got it fixed. But it wasn’t my fault, OK [cough]

As a result, a significant portion of the Minifinity website as you’ve known it over the last few years went missing. Like, forever. For the terminally smug amongst you, now is *not* a good time to raise the subject of backups.

Consequently, Minifinity is going to be offline completely for a day or two. We’ve spent this evening scratching our heads about what to do next, assessing what’s been lost and cursing our rotten luck. We’ve now got the bones of a plan and as has always been the way with Minifinity, we’re confident we can turn this rather crumby twist of fate into a positive thing and Minifinity will back really soon, and it will be way better than ever before. Faster, slicker, easier to use, and a whole lot more reliable.

Updates on when Minifinity will be back in business will be posted below as things progress so check back often. If you have a pressing need to get in touch with one of the website team, you can contact Web-Monkey via MSN Messenger at matt@muppetlabs.co.uk. Don’t be offended if you don’t get an immediate response as he’s got a day job too.

Update 4/3/08 23:45 - The forum’s have successfully been recovered and are being restored on a new server, with an updated forum system. Panic over. For those who are interested, the forum will be running on a brand-spanking-new installation of phpBB3. It’ll feel pretty familiar to you, but be a whole lot slicker with a bunch of new features.

This means that my disgruntled conversations with “Court” in the ICE Forum will probably be gone. Ho hum - it was a waste of bandwidth anyway!

Hope the MF guys get this sorted soon, it’s one of my favourite websites!
